OBP or hoax

I have been away and not walking through the paddocks since Christmas. When I walked through there last Wednesday I found a dead bird beside the track.

If it was just a dead bird lying in the grass it would make some sense. This bird was lying on top of a filled in rabbit hole, a spade would have been needed it was that large and the hole has been there for as long as I remember, on top of the filled in hole there was eaten bird seed, mixed seed that you might buy from the supermarket, lying on top of this as you will see from the photographs was a relatively decomposed bird.

After my initial excitement of thinking I had found an OBP it started to look more like a Monty Python skit. Why was this bird here, dead not eaten, why the eaten seed along with some apple peel and small pieces of corn husks and last why was the hole filled in.
